            Later in the evening I cracked open a Belgian beer before dinner and said to Michelle and Celia, “This is Daddy’s beer. It makes me very happy.”

            Celia watched me intently and said, “Happy. Beer.”

            Michelle laughed. “What are you teaching her?”

            “Only the essentials,” I answered. "Only the essentials."
